Huntersmoon:

The construction of a new-build innovative design executive home in Saltdean, with stunning views over the sea cliffs.

The house also incorporates state of the art heat recovery and solar panel arrays to minimise reliance on electrical power supply.

This project was designed by a friend of the client, in HongKong, from where they where retiring.

We were engaged to project manage the tendering and construction of the project.

This entailed the demolition of the existing house and the construction of a three storey replacement 360 sq.m. dwelling.

The client prioritised the requirement of the house to be mostly self reliant with regard to energy consumption. This required the house to be highly insulated to enable the extensive glazing facing the sea cliffs.

The house is cladd in bronze coloured zinc to the seaward elevations, for added weather proyection and aesthetically pleasing...

The house was also engineered to withstand the significant winds generated by its exposed location and weatherproofing. This also proved a challenge during the construction of the project as Gale force winds would regularly disrupt the site and require special attention with regard to temporary support and storage of materials on-site.
