Ridgecote, Dorking.
The comprehensive refurbishment and remodelling of an extensive property within a private housing estate, with the minimum of new build elements.
The property sits on a ridge overlooking the North Downs, the existing 1920’s building is overly fussy for the clients tastes and has had a number of uncomplimentary extensions over its lifetime. This has created a labyrinth of poorly connected rooms.
Our brief was to achieve an internal and external cohesiveness to the house and set it properly within its extensive gardens.
Internally, the three reception rooms are combined into one with a lowered lounge ‘den’. This is accessed via a gallery hallway through a grande full height oak glazed sliding double door on axis from the new entrance and access to the rear grounds.
The existing garage block is relocated with a new utility room and relocated kitchen.
The existing swimming pool has been transformed into a sunken walled garden + the pool is relocated in the rear garden adjacent to the tennis courts.
The six bedrooms on the first floor are fully refurbished with four ensuites + family bathroom.
The mastersuite is extended with a panoramic balcony over the rear garden.
The entire building is re-rendered with new composite glazing system + underfloor heating throughout.
The house has a heat recovery + central vacuum systems.
The main house, has a +700sqm footprint.
The grounds were comprehensively re-modelled, designed by acres wild: https://www.acreswild.co.uk/
